A major change to the broadband industry affecting all network operators and service providers is coming fast, and INCA Members need to take action to be ready in time. INCA has been working with Ofcom, OTA and other industry organisations on behalf of the independent sector. Now is your chance to get a dedicated briefing and give your views at a special INCA Switching Workshop.
Based on the new EU Electronic Communications Code – EECC – Ofcom is mandating a new method for consumers to be able to switch their broadband connection.
DCMS has announced that the provisions of the EECC will be transposed into UK law by 21 December 2020 and a consultation on this closed in September. That has led Ofcom to ask the Office of the Telecommunications Adjudicator – OTA2 http://www.offta.org.uk – to consult with industry and submit recommendations on the new processes by 30 November 2019. Ofcom will then hold a formal consultation process before it confirms the proposes required. The process will need to be adopted by every INCA Member who runs a network and/or retails internet access services to consumers and SMEs, and this will have to be implemented by December 2020 – so a lot potentially to do!.
This workshop is aimed at INCA members to bring them up to speed on the requirements for switching, the latest developments, and how to get involved further.
Book now to reserve your place at this vital workshop free of charge. If you’d like to give your views before then, here’s our backgrounder.
