INCA has made a submission in response to the Call for Evidence launched in December by DCMS.
The cross-government Review, led by DCMS, will assess whether any additional policy interventions are needed to create the conditions for long term investment in world-class digital connectivity.
In our submission, we highlight the fact that the policy approach outlined in our 'Building Gigabit Britain' report from late 2016 has been largely supported and pursued by Government, with positive outcomes to date. We encourage Government to continue along this path and avoid changing course, which could risk damaging the very positive investment environment that we see today. We encourage further work to remove barriers to infrastructure roll-out, to ensure passive infrastructure access at scale, and to deter predatory overbuild by Openreach.
INCA's full submission can be downloaded here.
The resulting Government report, due in Summer 2018, will identify options available to government to support an attractive and stable environment for investment in full fibre and 5G technologies.
